Welding cable and SOOW buyers in Oklahoma
Flexible cable lives a harder life than building wire. It is dragged, coiled, exposed to oil and sunlight, and replaced long before the conductor is finished — which is exactly why condition matters more than length.
Welding cable is a fine-strand copper conductor with a tough rubber or thermoplastic jacket, typically #6 through 4/0, rated 600 V. SOOW is a portable cord with oil-resistant thermoset jacket and conductors from 18 AWG up to 2 AWG, used for equipment connections and temporary power.
We buy both, in new surplus and in serviceable used condition. Jacket integrity, oil exposure and whether the cable has been crushed or repaired are the details that decide whether it is worth collecting.

What to send with the request
- Gauge and conductor count.
- Jacket type and whether it is oil-resistant.
- Any cuts, repairs, splices or exposed conductor.
- Roughly how many feet or coils you have.
Not sure of the type?
Send a photo of the jacket print anyway. Reading a wire label is the one thing we do all day, and it is faster than guessing.

Welding cable and SOOW: seller questions
Do you buy used welding cable?
Serviceable used cable can be considered. Jacket condition, oil exposure and any repairs are the deciding factors.
What SOOW sizes are most useful?
10, 12 and 14 gauge multi-conductor SOOW is the most common, along with heavier 8 and 6 gauge for equipment drops.
Adjacent wire types we also buy
Copper is the part of a surplus wire load that is easiest to identify and hardest to fake. If the reel says copper, the value is in the conductor, the insulation and the footage left on the reel.
Instrumentation cable carries signal, not just power, and that changes how it is specified — shielding, pairing, drain wires and jacket material all matter. It is also the category most often mispriced by general scrap buyers.
Armoured and tray-rated cable is where commercial and industrial surplus overlaps: the same job can leave behind coils of MC for a retail fit-out and reels of TC-ER for a plant expansion.
